2023 Fears Brunswick x James Porter & Son Limited Edition
Here we have a 2023 Fears Brunswick x James Porter & Son Limited Edition of 25 pieces, made in small batches for James Porter & Son, a collaboration celebrating their specialist boutique which was founded in 1858, situated in the Glasgow Argyll Arcade, each piece has a unique serial number engraved between the lugs at 12 oâclock, this number can identify the watch's history from its master database. The inspiration for this watch's case comes from a Fears watch originally made in 1924. Its curvaceous 38mm case is made from 316L stainless steel, sitting comfortably on your wrist like a cushion with straight lugs. The subtle curve of the case flanks leads to a lug-to-lug length of 43mm and a case thickness of 12mm. On the right side, there is a traditional âonionâ shaped crown. A domed sapphire crystal sits above an incredible brushed GunMetal Grey dial. This special dial was first used on Fears watches of the 1940s and 50s. This rich tone is created using galvanic coatings of black pigments. The surface of the dial features a delicate vertical brushing, making each dial unique and allowing it to catch the light in a beautiful, subtle way. This effect is complemented by the concentric circle finishing on the sunken sub-seconds, at 6 oâclock, with James Porter & Son. The numerals are applied to the dial by hand, after being diamond-polished, sand-blasted, and coated in layers of Rhodium, to give a warm, grey finish. Inspired by the many different typefaces Fears has used throughout its history. Each set of hands is subtly skeletonised before being coated in layers of Rhodium. Inside we have a hand-wound ETA 7001, 17 jewels, and 18,000 beats per hour. First introduced in the 1970s, it quickly gained a reputation for being reliable, and its slim design incorporates an Incabloc shock system. Each movement is decorated with CĂ´tes de Genève striping and blued screws. The watch comes with a 20mm handmade Pewter Grey Barenia leather strap lined with a deep blue Alcantara, and the accompanying stainless steel pin buckle features an engraving of the Fears pipette logo. This watch is sold with its original Fears wooden presentation box and paperwork.
