1940s Mido Multifort Datometer Super-Automatic Bumber 33.5mm

Here we have an incredibly rare 1940s Mido Multifort Datometer Super-Automatic, reference 5862, featuring a beautifully proportioned 33.5mm stainless steel case made by Taubert & Fils, who had acquired the prominent watch case company François Borgel in 1924. Gently curving over your wrist with sculpted, tapered drilled lugs, a lug-to-lug length of 41mm, and a case thickness of 11mm for a comfortable, versatile fit. On the right side, a coin-edged push-pull crown allows for easy winding and setting. A smooth bezel supports a domed acrylic crystal positioned directly above a breathtaking, patinated pointer-date dial. This highly coveted dial boasts a faint ‘roulette’ outer date track numbered 1 to 31, showcasing an extraordinary depth of character that only comes with true age. Surrounding the dial are Arabic numerals coated in Radium that deliver exceptional vintage legibility. The ultra-clean layout balances historical utility with style, complemented by a sweeping central second-hand and a central red-tipped crescent pointer hand that points to the outer track. On the reverse, a screw-down decagonal case back proudly displays the watch details. Beating inside is the ultra-reliable, Swiss-made bumper automatic Mido calibre 917 B movement, a historic and charmingly tactile calibre that gently thuds as the rotor bounces between its internal springs, powering the watch. It comes paired with a 16mm premium vintage-style leather strap.
