Here we have a 2024 Seiko Prospex 1965 Diver's Re-Creation "62MAS" SJE093J1, launched in August 2023 and is now sold out. It celebrates the first Seiko professional dive watch, the affectionately named â62MASâ, used by the Japanese Antarctic Research Expeditions from 1966 until 1969. This watch is limited to 1461/1965 pieces and is a modern contemporary Re-Creation. The 38mm brushed and polished stainless steel case comfortably sits on the wrist with drilled flat-ended lugs; Seiko gets ergonomics so right, polished flanks lead to a lug-to-lug length of 46mm and a thickness of 12.5mm, giving the watch an impressive wrist presence; the slim case dimensions are precisely the same as the original. On the right side, at 3 oâclock, a screw-down oversized signed crown. The unidirectional bezel has a glossy metallic black insert with a 60-minute scale in silver numerals, and a box-shaped sapphire crystal AR coated on the inside sits above a brushed sunburst dark grey dial. An outer minute track surrounds applied baton indexes outlined in stainless steel coated in LumiBrite, marking the hours and, at 3 oâclock, a framed date window. Broad baton hands expertly brushed are coated in LumiBrite complemented by a lume-counterweight sweeping seconds hand. Text is applied to the dial at noon Seiko motif âAutomaticâ printed underneath, and at 6 oâclock, Divers 200m âDiashock 26 Jewelsâ. On the reverse, an etched dolphin is in the centre with the model number and number out of 1461/1965, inside an automatic Seiko Cal. 6L37, 26 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour, the movement has hand winding and hacking functionality for your convenience, introduced in July 2023.
