Here we have a 2020 Seiko Prospex LX Sky Limited Edition 45mm SNR049J1, a Limited Edition of 400 pieces, inspired by the unique skyline seen from the International Space Station. A 45mm brushed and Zaratsu-polished super-hard coated Titanium case with numerous angles that play with the light as you rotate your wrist, the case shape sits on the wrist like a cushion, and Seiko gets ergonomics so right, and a lug-to-lug length of 50mm and a thickness of 14.5mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence. Chamfered zaratsu-polished edges lead the eye towards the broad lugs, on the right side at 4 o’clock, a deep knurled crown. The unidirectional bezel has a two-tone black and blue sapphire insert with a 24-hour scale in white numbers and deep knurling for extra grip. A domed sapphire crystal, AR-coated on the inside, sits above a striking gradient black-to-blue dial. An outer minute chapter ring surrounds the 24-hour numerals, and applied, facet-edged baton indexes are filled with LumiBrite to mark the hours. At 3 o’clock, a framed date window, broad hour and slender minute hands expertly brushed and filled in LumiBrite, complemented by a tapered sweeping seconds hand and a blue arrow-tipped GMT hand. At noon, we have the Seiko motif and at 6 o’clock, the Prospex logo, blue GMT, Spring Drive, 10 BAR. On the reverse, a screw-down Titanium case back etched with the details of the watch and engraved with Seiko Prospex logo Limited Edition 400, inside a Spring Drive Grand Seiko Cal. 5R66, the innovative Spring Drive movement which is mechanical, but with an electromagnetic escapement regulated by a quartz oscillator, it has 30 jewels and a power reserve of an impressive 70 hours, its sole power source is a mainspring that drives a series of gears, a rotor connected to the end of these gears generates a small electrical charge that activates an electronic circuit and quartz oscillator, therefore there is no need for a battery. The watch comes fitted on a Seiko 22mm super-hard coated Titanium 3-link bracelet with a push-button signed three-fold clasp: all links are provided, and the watch also comes with its Seiko presentation box and papers.
