2020 Romain Jerome Space Invaders 40 Pop Limited Edition

Here we have a rarely seen 2020 Romain Jerome Space Invaders 40 Pop Limited Edition, 32/78 pieces. The Games Collection, launched in 2011 and reimagines the iconic 1980s electronic games. This quirky piece was launched in 2017 and is made in collaboration with TAITO Corporation (TAITO), a Japanese video game developer, publisher, and arcade operator, known for iconic arcade games like Space Invaders and Bubble Bobble, based in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Its unusual 40mm black PVD-coated bead blasted stainless steel case has four ball and socket joints for each corner, resembling the legs on the NASA’s Lunar Excursion Model (LEM), each moving axle with safety screws allows the watch to adjust to your wrist. The lug-to-lug length of 44mm and a case thickness of 12mm give the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, a deep knurled screw-down crown, a polished smooth bezel holds a slightly domed sapphire crystal AR coated above a dynamic three-layer black multidimensional dial. The first two layers are bead blasted and satin brushed, creating the undulating pixels, and each machined space invader is lacquered in coloured enamel and individually placed on the dial by hand. The green blaster has the characteristic exploding pixels just like the game, skeletonised satin brushed hands sit in the centre, at four, we have the RJ motif, and along the bottom, engraved “Swiss Made” “Space Invaders” completes this unique space game-themed timepiece. On the reverse, safety screwed case back with a medallion of Moon Silver RJ – a low-oxidation silver alloy infused with Moon Dust – the grain textured stellar-patterned back of the watch continues across the 21 mm integrated rubber strap, mirroring the Moon's surface. Inside an automatic RJ Cal. RJ003-A, 23 jewels, beating at 28,800 beats per hour, the movement is produced by La-Joux-Perret and is based on the workhorse Valjoux 7750. It comes paired with its Short Romain Jerome 21mm integrated black rubber strap with the stellar-patterned back and black PVD-Coated pin buckle. This watch is sold with its original Romain Jerome presentation box and paperwork.
