2019 Rolex GMT-Master II 40mm 'Batgirl' Jubilee 126710BLNR
The GMT-Master story began in 1955 when their very first pilot watch was made for Panam pilots' ref 6542, which featured a bakelite bezel. It was replaced with the ref. 1675, which was in production from 1959 until 1980, when the ref. 16750 was introduced until Rolex replaced it with the ref: 16700 in 1988. At NASA, Jack Swigert of Apollo 13 wore one in 1970, and US Air Force pilots wore them. It was also worn by Sean Connery in Goldfinger in 1964. Its curved flanks lead to a lug-to-lug length of 48mm and a thickness of 12mm, giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side is a Triplock screw-down crown protected by crown guards. The bidirectional bezel has a 24-hour two-colour blue-and-black Cerachrome insert. The numerals are deeply engraved into the ceramic. A sapphire crystal has a cyclops magnification at 3 o’clock. A Rolex Rehaut surrounds a black dial. Applied disc and baton indexes filled with Chromalight, mark the hours. At 3 o’clock, a large date window. An applied Rolex crown at 12 o'clock with precisely printed text’ Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date and at 6 o’clock, GMT-Master II Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified’. The Mercedes's hands are filled with Chromalight, complemented by an arrow-tipped blue GMT hand and a lollipop sweeping second hand. The GMT hand circles the dial once every 24 hours. The hour hand can be adjusted forward or backwards independently of the minute and second hands. On the reverse, a coin-edged screw-down case back, inside an automatic Rolex Cal. 3285, 31 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour. Superlative Chronometer is their in-house version of testing that goes beyond COSC specifications. The watch comes fitted on its Rolex 20mm Oyster bracelet in Everose Rolesor - a combination of Oystersteel and Everose gold. The folding OysterLock clasp has 5mm Easylink micro-adjustments that simplify bracelet adjustment. It also comes with its Rolex presentation box, swing tags and paperwork.
