Here we have the iconic 2016/17 Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 41mm Blue Dial 15500ST, designed by Gerald Genta in 1971 the original Ref 5402A design is inspired by a commercial divers scuba helmet; he got the name Royal Oak from a series of eight ships of the Royal Navy that took their naming convention from the hollowed oak tree that King Charles 2nd hid whilst escaping the roundheads who were supporters of the English parliament during the English civil war 1642-1651. The 15500ST was launched in 2019 and remained in production until 2022; its distinctive 41mm tonneau-shaped brushed and polished stainless steel case flows over your wrist with angular sloped screwed lugs that perfectly encompass the integrated bracelet, the polished chamfer-edge leads the eye to a lug-to-lug length of 50mm and a case thickness of 10mm ensure a comfortable fit on your wrist. On the right side, the characteristic hexagonal crown, the polished and brushed octagonal bezel, has screw detailing reminiscent of a commercial divers helmet holding a flat sapphire crystal above a blue Grande Tapisserie (waffle) dial.
