Here we have a rarely seen 2015 Grand Seiko Spring Drive Diver Black SBGA029 with a 44mm impressively sculpted stainless steel case, featuring exquisitely Zaratsu-polished and brushed surfaces that curve over your wrist toward the drilled lugs. The lug-to-lug measurement is 50mm, and the case thickness is 13mm, giving the watch an impressive wrist presence. On the right side, we have a signed screw-down crown with deep knurling protected by crown guards. The unidirectional bezel features deep knurling for grip and a black insert with deeply engraved 60-minute dive numerals in white holding a bevel-edged sapphire crystal AR coated above a striking black dial. An outer minute chapter ring, precisely executed, surrounds the applied polished disc and baton indexes infilled with LumiBrite, at 3 o’clock a framed date window, the textured power reserve indicator sits at 8 o’clock, diamond cut hands matte finished are infilled with LumiBrite and complemented by a lollipop counterbalance second hand, at 12 o’clock we have the applied “Seiko” and at 6 o’clock “Grand Seiko Spring Drive Divers 200m”. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with the Grand Seiko medallion in high relief in the centre, inside a Spring Drive Grand Seiko Cal. 9R65, the innovative Spring Drive movement which is mechanical, but with an electromagnetic escapement regulated by a quartz oscillator, it has 30 jewels and a power reserve of an impressive 72 hours, its sole power source is a mainspring that drives a series of gears, a rotor connected to the end of these gears generates a small electrical charge that activates an electronic circuit and quartz oscillator, therefore there is no need for a battery.
