1960s Girard Perregaux Gyromatic Deep Diver 8867 V 39mm
Here, we have a super rare 1960s Girard Perregaux Gyromatic Deep Diver 8867 V. An estimated 1,400 watches were produced across two references, the V and the W, but only an estimated 400 8867 V were made in total making it incredibly rare. Thanks to the flat-ended tapered lugs, the 39mm stainless steel case sits comfortably on your wrist, chamfer edges lead to a lug-to-lug length of 48mm and a case thickness of 11mm, and on the right side is a coin-edged signed crown. The rotating coin-edged steel bezel has its original Bakelite 60-minute dive bezel insert holding a domed crystal above the black dial. An outer minute track has Tritium pips at the hour surrounding framed 12, 6 and 9 numerals in a futuristic font and baton indexes in between marking the hours; at 3 oâclock, a recessed date window, steel baton hands filled with Tritium are complemented by a tapered second hand, at noon we have the Girard Perregaux motif and âGyromaticâ printed underneath, âDeep Diverâ at 6 oâclock completes this vintage dive watch. On the reverse, a screw-down case back, inside an automatic Girard Perregaux Gyromatic, 17 jewel movement. The watch comes paired with a well-suited 19mm vintage-style leather strap and pin buckle.
